Phew… That UK heatwave was something, wasn’t it? An epic one-day blast… As if mother nature was giving us a heads up and some time to gather our bearings and get truly ready for the summer.
Me? For once, I was actually alright. Having done my summer shopping early this year (in preparation for a hen do in Greece), and survived the epic heat storm that is “summer in Athens“ in my new finds, I was surprisingly well prepared for over 30°C temperatures. Which got me thinking: “I wonder how the rest of my GG ladies doing? Would they be interested in a mini summer haul?”.
And according to the results of a quick Instagram poll, it looks like you are. So without further ado, here are my great summer fashion finds for 2022!
PS. On a scale of 1 to 10, just how lucky do you feel my friend? I bet it’s a solid ten because most of these brands are on sale as I write this post… Talk about perfect timing!
Sézane is one of my all-time favourite brands. I mean… It’s all about high-quality, beautifully cut French pieces, sold with an ethos of sustainability and philanthropy (see: Demain) in mind. What is not to love?
And this spring/summer… Well, I guess it’s fair to say they absolutely nailed it! Almost everything I ordered was a keeper. Let me show you!
- The Dazzler: The beautiful, bright pink, pleated Nissa dress is perfect to show off that new tan on a warm summer evening or at a party.
- The Day-to-Nighter: The extremely flattering, tie-back detail green Marguarita number could easily take you from sightseeing to date night.
- The Exception: The gorgeous, floral Aurora dress. The one I have is in “Villa” print, which seems to be sold out now, unfortunately. But I added the link anyway, so you can see the different colour/pattern options they have for the same dress.
- The Add-Ons: And, last but not least… While not completely summery, these Marthe Jumper and Heart Socks were also instant keepers. I think they will come particularly handy during the transition months, or those breezy summer evenings.
I also ordered the Noemia dress and Davis trousers – both nice, but not necessarily instant coups de coeur. The dress looked a little too 80’s mum on me, while the trousers were a little too thick for my liking.
QUICK TIP: Sézane is known for having “Archives” collections, where they bring old favourites back at a more gentle price, so do keep an eye out for them. Who knows, Aurora dress in Villa print might be in one of them!
& Other Stories
This gorgeous orange & Other Stories wrap dress has been one of the best purchases of the season for me. Flattering and versatile, it can be worn with flats or trainers for a casual day look, or be immediately zhuzhed up with heels for a night out or celebration.
I wore it to the office, a picnic and several (birthday) dinners so far and got so many compliments, it’s unbelievable!
As I write this, I am actually considering whether I should get another one… just in case.
Now this one is a little bonus for (and from) lovely Istanbulites.
Founded by two sisters with a passion for illustration and a unique sense of humour, Rumisu is the perfect mix of childlike whimsy and cool elegance. From their signature silk scarves to the softest linen dresses, each of their creations is a gem to cherish for many years.
Having eyed their sales for ages, only to find everything sold out within 10 minutes, I was so glad to get my hands on this beauty from Souq in Istanbul. But don’t worry, you don’t need to travel all the way there to get your hand on these babies. You can find many of Rumisu’s wonderful designs in a stockist near you.
Well, here they are: My Great Fashion Finds for Summer 2022! If you enjoyed reading this, and want more content like this, do let me know in the comments. In the meantime, I wish you fun, sun and lovely summer!
